ArchivalResource

Comptroller General circulars, 1877-1879.

This series contains the official circulars from the State Comptroller General to the county auditor. At some point all the papers probably belonged to S.E. Moore, former treasurer of Anderson County. Most of the papers are addressed to Moore, but specify that copies are to go to the auditor, treasurer, and county Commissioners. The circulars deal with such subjects as laws regulating assessment of real estate, redemption and sales of forfeited lands, delinquent land sales, the poll tax, collection of taxes, and tax assessment in the counties. The circulars ordinarily include the date and the name of the Comptroller General.
